Family entertainment and educational center “City Farm” is located next to the historic pavilion #44 “Rabbit breeding", in the area adjacent to the pond #5. Now cows, sheep, goats, rabbits and poultry can be seen here all year round. Young Naturalists and their parents are invited for thematic workshops and lectures.
The place where the "City Farm" located is perfect for organizing a "living exhibition". Among the perennial trees, on the bank of the pond and the river Kamenka cages with animals are placed, workshops are arranged and outdoor areas for events are located. The total area of the complex is about 3 hectares.
Here children are able not only to see the animals, but also to take care of them: cook food for them or feed them. In fact, kids will take the animals under their care but of course they will do it under the guidance of the experts. Besides children will be able to study the basics of management and economics, i.e. to plan the budget of the farm, determine which projects to spend the money on, to decide whether to buy new animals or for example, o repair an aviary. This immersion develops independence and responsibility. The entire infrastructure and all the facilities of the «City Farm» are adapted for people with disabilities.
There are 57 animal on the farm; among them are Saanen and Nubian goats, sheep, rabbits, donkeys, cows, zebu. The feathered race is presented by geese, ducks and chickens of various breeds (Orel, Floccose, Bantam and kinglet).
Unusual animals are represented by the Madagascar cow – Zebu. The French lop-eared rabbit will sure become a favorite pet of the kids. We tried to create the most comfortable conditions for all the inhabitants of the farm. Specialists of the Moscow zoo were involved to arrange the transporting of the animals, drawing their diet, choosing the equipment for the aviaries. To make sure the new inhabitants of VDNH always feel well there is a veterinary station working at the “city Farm”.
On the pond there is a playground with safe rubber coating, workout equipment, horizontal bars and hammocks. Closer to the water there is a real "bird’s kingdom": chicken coop and goose house, duck house.
The main objective of the project is to educate. Live exhibition is aimed primarily at children, but, as the experience shows not only kids, but also adults are happy to come here. All year round there will be held master classes, lectures, thematic presentations of plants and animals, as well as different recreational activities.
Starting from March 17, 2020, working schedule of some venues at VDNH has temporarily changed.
The рark area and sports grounds remain open to the public.
